There are thousands of tons of abandoned logging, railroad and mining equipment strewn all over British Columbia and Vancouver Island. Back in their heyday, these industries made so much money that it was cheaper to leave stuff behind rather than pull it out of the bush. I'm guessing this was once a crane for hauling rails, logs or both. It rests on the cusp on the lake and the town formerly known as Parkhurst.
