Part I of III: Cold Snap

This is the first time I've walked on a frozen Green Lake in hiking boots. Every other winter season required snowshoes laced under my boots to avoid sinking in deep powder. It was two weeks since last snowfall and the white patches in the pic are rime frost oddly enough, not snowy drifts. I thought I'd take a quick skip from the house to check out my backyard view close-up. I forgot no matter how short your exposure to sub zero weather is, wear gloves. A breezy hour later back at home found me needing hot cups of coffee to thaw out painful finger-scicles.
